STAR WARS
& THE ARTS

For Mtime - Lucasfilm - 2017

EXHIBITION CONCEPT
SCENOGRAPHY

Star Wars is a unique saga in that it created a whole new universe with its own history and mythology. From the inspirations and influences that it drew from, to the design of the props and sets, art was deeply involved in the crafting of this universe.

Art as an inspiration;
Art as a process;
Art as a product.

As Mtime was adding exhibition production to its activities, a demonstration of what those shows would be was necessary. The topic of the relationship between Star Wars and the Arts seemed perfectly appropriate.

I imagined the concept, selected the content, and designed the scenography of the exhibition. The leading idea was to create a narrative that would introduce the artistic influences of Star Wars, then the artistic process that was involved in creating the saga, and to finish with an overview of the artistic legacy that Star Wars have left in popular culture.

ICONIC BRANDING

For Mtime - Lucasfilm; DC; Marvel - 2015-2017

VISUAL BRANDING
COLLECTION PLANNING
PRODUCT DESIGN

Brands themselves are stories. I created lines of merchandising that makes use of the most iconic elements of those brands, to bring together very different categories of products, as a visually unified collection with very strong branding appeal and recognition.

For Marvel and Star Wars Comics, in a bid to clearly distinguish the branding from the movies', I used classic comics drawings in black and white, combined with boldly contrasting logotypes. Making the message and the identity as clear as possible, and taking advantage of the most recognizable characters and scenes from the stories.

The “total look”, with a single graphic crossing over product categories, is a strong enhancer of the perception of a “lifestyle brand”.

SERIAL
NARRATIVE

The storytelling here is brought to another level by spreading the narrative over a serie of different products. Each item becoming a chapter in the overall story. This collection structure is also reminiscent of the periodical nature of comic books, from which this line is developed

Visual unity accross soft lines and hard lines is a powerful way to promote a style or an identity.

COMICS ART

FESTIVAL

For Mtime - 2017

EVENT CONCEPT

Considering the large overlapping between movie audiences, and followers of the comics culture, and in an effort to connect with and enlarge our user base, I proposed the Mtime Comics Art Festival. An event with activities for fans, as well as a business convention, revolving around the comics and movie culture.

Envisionned as a multi-location, o2o event, it aimed at entertaining, educating, and creating business opportunities.

The following is a brief extract from the initial proposal that I drafted.

PRODUCT CONCEPT

To keep up with the evolution of technologies and the way people consume content on their mobile, I designed this wireless power-bank / speakers, to enhance the experience of those watching videos on their mobile phone.

The goal was to develop a product that would be unique to Mtime, and that could be cosmetically adapted to various IP’s, to better absorb the cost of R&D.

Originaly designed for Legendary’s Pacific Rim Uprising, it was then adapted for Star Wars The Last Jedi.
